Donovan Willis

Assistant Public Works Director
Town of Beaufort, NC

State Utility Contractors recently completed a new Tertiary Wastewater Treatment Plant for the Town of Beaufort. Their management and on-site foremen were knowledgeable and easy to work with. It was evident that they had spent an immense amount of time planning and coordinating this project. The end results of their planning and timely completion are a well constructed facility and a satisfied customer.

Pitt Electric, Inc. has been associated with State Utility Contractors, Inc. on many water and wastewater projects over the past 25 plus years. We recently successfully completed 4 projects over a two year period that totaled in excess of 11 million.

We at Pitt Electric, Inc. have the greatest respect and admiration for the way the State Utility Contractors, Inc. team conducts business, manage their job sites and pay their bills. They treat their subs with respect and as a team player which quite honestly is rare this day and time.

I believe they as well as myself believe in treating others the way they want to be treated. We at Pitt Electric, Inc. look forward to many more good projects with State Utility Contractors, Inc.

Heyward Incorporated

State Utility is one of the top contracting firms in the area. Their professionalism and attention to detail is outstanding. They are one of the best when it comes to working in the field, truly a team effort to get the job done on time and with little issue. They work with all parties involved honestly and fairly. Their equipment installations are superb, which results in exceptional start-ups and plant operations.

Charles M. Smithwick, Jr.

District Manager, CMSD

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your employees for the outstanding performance by State Utility Contractors, Inc. on our most recent construction project. I would like to complement you on all aspects pertaining to the project. At the pre-construction conference you provided an outline and schedule for our 365 day and $8.2 million project. Adherence to the schedule was critical as completion date of this project was set by the North Carolina Division of Water Quality and penalties (state fines or liquidated damages by owner) were imposed.

I have nothing but praise for your field supervision and labor force as they were always courteous and hard working. They have worked in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, sunshine, rain and snow) without complaints. Change orders were handled in an extremely efficient manner and pay requests were submitted in a timely fashion which allowed for processing by the CMSD and the various funding agencies involved.

After completion of the project, the immediate response by State Utility Contractors concerning warranty issues was extremely satisfying. You and your staff have responded in a timely manner to all issues that have been brought to your attention.

On behalf of the Contentnea Metropolitan Sewerage District, I would recommend your company to anyone seeking a construction company that is knowledgeable, professional and conscientious about their business. I encourage you to bid our next project, as I would like to work with you and State Utility Contractors, Inc. again.

Gale Smith, P.E.

Project Engineer
Rivers and Associates

From the very beginning of the Beaufort WWTP project, Rivers and Associates observed excellent performance by State Utility Contractors, Inc. Every facet of the construction process was well done.

The field office and home office of both contractor and engineer were always informed on plan, schedule and day to day construction progress. Success on this project was a result of everyone’s efforts, but involvement in communication and all tasks by upper level management of State Utility was a key factor for this excellent project.
